Why am I writing at a time when I should be going to sleep? I figured this was important enough to sacrifice much-needed rest (and it’s also fresh in my mind right now).

At the Ohana Isle location, I have placed a mailbox-type object right by the entrance. By dropping a notecard onto this little mailbox, you can now send me feedback about anything that’s on your mind. Let me know your thoughts about the store or anything in general! Be especially sure to tell me if you’ve got a really cool idea on your mind for a product that you’d like to see at Hawkster Damage Productions… you never know what may come of it…

With all the update groups out there for the various stores around Second Life, it seems only natural that Hawkster Damage Productions should have one too! In order to find this update group, you can search “Hawkster Damage Productions” under the “Groups” tab in the Search box. Feel free to join it and invite your friends as well.

Now, on to the good stuff! What exactly is this group and what’s the point? This group is for people who want to stay updated on Hawkster Damage Productions products, as well as taking advantage of special little incentives. The special incentives will be starting soon! Namely, whenever a new product is released, a random person in the group will be chosen to get that product for FREE. Pretty sweet deal, huh?

Of course, there has to be some benefit for me with having the group as well! The group helps me keep track of who my customers are and who has interest in my products. I know some people are in there just for the free stuff, and that’s cool too!

I’ve been seeing people who have things called “groupless updates” as well. I’ve contemplated building one of these myself for my customers. Basically, the idea is that you click on this object and you’re added to a list of people who the store owner can keep updated. This serves as an alternative to joining a group, which certainly is a positive thing. However, given the nature of the store’s various sporadic location changes, I just don’t see this as enough of a benefit, especially since using the function llGetOwner() in the scripting language would require you to reset the script whenever you had to rez the object again in order to preserve the ownership of the script. In doing this, all the contents of the update list would be lost and I wouldn’t know who to keep informed of store happenings. Until the store is in a solid location, I can’t really see myself using a groupless updater system and risk losing everyone who wants to keep in contact.

Using a group and not an in-world object also helps me conserve prim space so I can keep putting out cool stuff for all of you too

Hey everyone!

We just changed the location of the store to a slightly different area on Ohana Isle. We moved maybe about 50 meters South, and while it’s not that big of a change, it is sure to mess up your landmarks since a new place now occupies the old location.

Also, as an added bonus, I’m now earnestly back working on the planned website for Hawkster Damage Productions. I’ve been putting it off until I got some more merchandise that I could display, but unfortunately putting off the web development led to me forgetting about it completely. Whoops!
